ELH recently posted on the Shopping thread in General Discussions about a purchase she made of a pirate tarantula. These tarantulas aren't RC but battery-operated sound sensored. They are made by Uncle Milton and I noticed that a Creepy Crate was an optional item. Cool!!!. The Creepy Crate has a surprise drop panel, which unfortunately you have to physically depress a button on the box in order for the panel to drop open. So I figured this forum area would be the best place to ask about ideas for remotely triggering the box panel to drop.
Here's a link to the Uncle Milton website with the new spiders and the Creepy Crate. There are manuals for the toys/props on the website if that helps at all.

is the button an manual latch release or a circuit/wired button? I can't tell by the website.

The second page of the manual says the door opens by "pushing the secret button on the side of the crate". The crate doesn't use any batteries so I think it's just a mechanical latch connected to a button.
I suppose you might be able to run a pull wire and rig it up the latch maybe and hide the wire under some coverings or such. Hope someone has a better idea.
BTW I noticed from the spider product pages that the spiders all have accessory pieces that come off, so you don't have to have a costumed spider.
