Heres the second latex mask of the 3 I sculpted here on the forum. I went back and painted him last since he was the more difficult of the 3. Im still planning to add a clear coat of epoxy to the mouth and eyes to give a wet look. I'd like to find out how to add slobber dripping from that lower lip too, LOL.

Hope you enjoy it, thanks for taking a look!

oh he is sooo gross, great job, could you add drips with liquid latex and let it run down his chin for the slobber?

Thanks Obcessed.. You could use latex. But my problem with latex is that its opaque. For realism, a semi-clear substance would be my preference. Slobber is serious business in this house! Lol, thanks again.

Always nice comments from phil121...thank you very much sir.

Well, I use my hands for absolutely as long as I can. Keep feeling out the face, hoping to come as close to an organic feel as my abilities allow. Thumbs to form eye sockets, mouth, ect. I use a clay rake next to kill the high spots. Then the tools just get smaller. Little scoops, loops, ect. Just basic clay tools is all I own. I do have a little tool used to pick out walnuts I think, I like that for fine wrinkles. Smoothing with water and soft artist brushes. Skin Texture with Avacodo's, orange peels, what ever. Im still a beginner and have a whole lot to learn, half the time i'm not sure if i'm even using the tools correctly..

Clear silicone, that's what "they"( Holly Wood SFX shops ) use for the drool on creatures - like the inside mouth that pops out to eat you in "Alien"s movie.
It's clear & drool like looking

    & that mask looks frigg'in kewl !!! 2 Bucky thumbs up !!

Dark Lord -- Wow, "2" Bucky thumbs up? AWESOME!! You rock.

Clear Silicone it is then...assuming it dries up and becomes permanent? Thanks so much for the tip.

Yep, I had an issue from "SFX Movie makers" ( no longer in print that I know of ) & always had great tips on what the pro's used for things like that. They had a close up pic of the Alien critter with that clear drool sliding out it's mouth & commented on how the achieved it - clear silicone. They let it drip down a little & dry like that. For larger / longer drools, they attached the thinnest piece of fishing line inside mouth & hung out & down & then dripped the silicone on that, the fishing line helped support the longer drool until it dries & was fishing line was clear enough not to be noticed during filming or even semi close up.

As for permanent, they're masks were "dragon skin" silicone so I don't know how permanent it would be on latex,....& we know silicone sticks to only a few things.........
I would do a little trial on another mask & see how it does 1st for your application needs.

Thanks for the quick reply Chop Shop, I find it pretty cool how you create masterpieces like this with such little tools
I think that the translucent silicone idea is great, but the only problem is that the silicone most likely won't bond, as DarkLord said, silicone pretty much sticks to nothing other than silicone.
    Thanks
    Phil

Hmm, maybe I better keep it simple for now and just be happy with an epoxy "wet look" .. Yeah its the same with "latex sticks to latex" rule of thumb... .

I'm enrolled in a creature mask painting course beginning next month, I'll put that on my list of questions for sure.

I'll put "dripping slobber" on the back-burner..
