Hello Everyone- I know a lot of you are busy on your haunts for this year. I am plotting away myself.

This will be the second year of my family doing a haunted walk (some of the proceeds go to fundraising efforts for local 8th graders' trip to the Washington Holocaust Memorial)

We do this on my family's farm. Last year, the theme was that the farm was haunted and it drove its farmer to madness (as you take the tour you find out that the farm has been taken over by crazies and the farmer is actually trying to kill the crazies)

This year we are doing the theme: zombies are wreaking havoc on northern michigan and our farm has started an agricultural based growing system to manufacture Zombie Chow (to feed to the zombies so they don't eat humans) So the farm has invited guests to tour the facilities. As they go through the farm they see the bags of zombie chow loaded and the meat processesing plant and the workers' bunk, powerplant for farm, ect.

I also have them going through a toxic site that is draining into the family's cemetary plot (if you pick up on this you realize the farmer has created the zombie's running around)

At the end, we have our tour guests walking into a completely dark barn or Harvesting Barn. The path is lined with square and round bales that the guest walk between. When the lights come on, zombies on either side of the barn run toward them and then other zombies pop up out of the hollowed out hay bales too. Then the lights go off and they exit-hopefully screaming.

Any cool and affordable ideas or feedback would be greatly appreciated..and happy hauntings to all!

I love the zombie patrol car-may encorporate that too into marketing the event!

WOW! That sounds like a major production. Kudos to you and your family as well for raising funds and giving them to a worthy cause. I think a zombie patrol car parked at the entrance to your farm/haunt would be a perfect addition. Good luck!

great theme! For the cemetery setup on Halloween, do you have ground breaker zombie props or do you actually have live zombies coming out of the ground in front of the tombstones?
one zombie actor crawling out of a shallow grave and then lumbering off may heighten the suspense.
The vistor now knows that there are zombies lurching around just not sure where this one went.

excellent ideas. I have one ground breaking zombie. But I was also thinking of having the victims..i mean guests walk over a zombie under the ground that was animated with maybe fog and green light.

I want the green light of the toxic waste to dim and brighten. Technical I am not but luckily I know a kindred spirit who is good with the technical side of things. but is also very busy so I am trying to learn more on that side. What kind of light am I looking for to get this affect?

The lighting, themes, drama part of the scare ..that is my thing. Let me know if I can help. You guys always help me so much. I just wanted to let you know you are appreciated by me.

I like this idea, sort of a Dr Ned's Zombie Island thing going on (Borderlands video game reference). I think some zombie exterminators (against the farmer as well) would be a nice touch. I'm really getting into that ZRT thing..

I love it! Excellent ideas! Do you have any video/photos of past haunts to share?
A Halloween prop is a terrible thing to waste..

Maybe inside the barn, some of the zombies are all pent up in a chain link cage. When you enter the barn you explain this is where you keep the "test subjects" and assure everyone they will not escape the cages. After entering and becoming more comfortable in the room with you, you bring some sample food to one of the cages to show the tot's how safe it is and BAAMM, they grab you and start feasting on your arm, the alarm goes off and the sirens start flashing as they start to escape and chase your tot's out of the barn.

I would have some serious fun with this one lol, Loooove this idea

My family has done a home haunt for 20 years but last year was our first haunt at the farm. Here are a two of the home haunt a few years ago.

This year I am going to make the conscious effort to take pictures. I just realized I do not take pictures of all of the crazy stuff we have done over the years!

Let me email my sister in law and see if I can scrape up some from the haunt last year.
