Ok, do you think this would work? Most of us have at one time or another made a paper mache balloon head...you know mache over the balloon head, pop the balloon and you have a solid head shape.
I am looking at inflatable dress mannequins. Coat the form with Vaseline as release agent then perhaps use monster mud and cloth to cover. Then leave an open place and deflate the form and remove to make more life size forms.
As I have not yet worked with MM, I'm asking ....Would this work?
What do you think?![]()

I like the idea but I have to wonder how much work it would be to remove the deflated carcass from the shell. If you decide to go with it, make sure to keep us updated.

I did a torso that way but used plaster gauze instead of the MM. It works great but you need a good sized hole to pull the form through.

I think it is a great idea! I personally would leave the form there instead of popping it! Extra supportive inner!

Yeah,I think I will give it a go.
beggars alley; Plaster huh? Like a big full body cast. I like that, would not be as heavy as a MM body form...but would it be strong enough to stand the test of time? Did you use a sealer of some kind on your torso project?
Crunch; Like you, I too wondered how much work would it be to remove the "Deflated carcass" from the shell. (without damaging the work itself in the process)
I am thinking of perhaps covering the body in sections at a time and let dry, deflate, and then remove. Then when I have made all the body parts, play "Dr.Frankenstin" and preform the operation of assembling the parts into a man.
( "It's alive...it's alive!!!")
ter-ran: I think you misunderstood. I would not pop the inflatable body, just let the air out. It would give it more strength to leave it in, however I like the idea of using the inflatable mannequin over and over to make more people/monsters. The mannequin I am looking at is about $40.00 so I would want get the most out of that investment.....because I'm just that cheap (LOL)

Sounds logical and I think it might work! Let us know how it goes cause the body is so much work building with the pvc and shaping it. A prop giving birth to another prop.......gotta love that!

Perhaps consider the Duct Tape Dummy (DTD) method using the inflatable manikin?: http://diyfashion.about.com/od/diyfa...Tape_Dummy.htm
