Spent the weekend trimming trees. And I left out of the trash pile several branches that are curved and unique looking. I was thinking of using them for props this Halloween. Any way I have these big round Christmas tree holders. I would like to pour concert in them and set the trees in the stand. I have 2 questions:
#1- Do I need to coat the tree base to protect it from the concert?

#2- Is there any thing I can coat the exposed part of the tree to protect it from the elements?
Don't die around me if you don't wont to end up on the front lawn on HALLOWEEN

For my tree I dug a hole in the yard and placed a piece of pvc pipe in it so that the hole would always be there.I can pop a tree branch in it when needed. Mine happened to be the right size for a paint can cap so I keep it plugged with that during the off season. As far as protecting your branches, they naturally dry out and become more brittle. There was someone here who wrapped every branch of theirs with fine gauge wire to keep it from breaking.
