I saw a description of what sounds like a cool effect on another board, now I can't find it.....as I remember, it was something like this: in a completely dark area, string fishing line between two objects (trees, poles, etc) several feet off the ground. Every few feet attach chem lights at varying heights using more fishing line.....then "break" the chem lights.
Is supposed to give a spooky ambiance to an outdoor scene.
I think something else luminescent and floaty would be more of an "effect" than a bunch of glowsticks hanging in a tree. For example:
White bats sprayed with fluorescent paint with blacklights aimed at them.
LED candles. A mechanism to make them move so it looks like they're actually floating around or up and down would be even better.
Tiny intense white 'dots' of lights, maybe small battery clip-ons lights painted black so all you see is a single point of light as a "lost soul"
Small skulls with red eyes.
Large eyeballs with a light inside.
I would also make sure there is no possible way someone could accidentally run between the trees or posts or whatever or you're going to wind up with one heck of an injury lawsuit.
