Here's a pulley that is over 150' away from the motor. This one is attached up on the light pole out at the street. It's hard to tell but it's a pulley attached to the end of a 45 degree metal bracket used to support wire shelving. The bracket gave me a little clearance for the wingspan of the airplane I was flying around the yard. To get the tension needed I used bungee cords (very tight) at each pulley location. The bungee also rotates slightly as a load comes around on the cable. This prevents the cable from slipping off the side of the pulley.

Do you have a video of your axworthy snow? It is currently boggling my mind!
While I do use Christmas as a template for future Halloween projects, I am a bit confused....
I have an idea for using weighted snowflakes in an FCG configuration (about 16 of them or so) for Christmas next year, I just don't see where or how an axworthy will do what you want. What do you want? LOL
And yes I belong to and post much more often, on Larry's "sister Christmas" site.

I have video, but it was taken with my Blackberry, nothing is visible. You can barely see the LED's on the plane when it flies by. It would be a waste to post it here. The Axworthy set up doesn't make it look like it's snowing, it's more of a festive - novelty thing. The snowflakes sort of float on by, horizontally. One cool effect is when they turn the corner and you see layers of strings of snowflakes going in two different directions. I think an FCG would be a more realistic effect and certainly easier to control. Warning: attaching and maintaining the strings of snowflakes was a chore. You have to space the strings far enough apart that they don't tangle together. These are light weight plastic and foam decorations and they do blow around. I had to take everything down (snowflakes and plane) for one major wind storm that blew through. For even minor wind I "parked" the snowflakes during the day away from any trees to avoid tangling. I'm looking forward to just hanging my ghosts and bats on the axworthy for Halloween.

I found the plane at a local place called Graves R/C Hobby in Orlando. I'm sure you could find it, or something similar on line too. It's a styro glider that I found in Graves' clearance isle for $10.00. Some assembly required (2 mins.). The LED's are peel-n-stick strips on the front of each wing, green on one side, red on the other. I think I paid $5.00 each for them. A 9 volt battery powers them from a cavity I carved out with the Dremel on top and then covered with a piece of white duct tape. It'll run for about 24 hours straight on a battery.
