Ok, I know it is the end of January, but it has been a long few months (college applications, etc...ehhhhh) and we finally have an edited vid. Plus, the guy who was editing it could only work on it every other day in his vid production class. Hope you guys understand, but here it is!
This house was actually a joint effort by a group of friends, so I cannot accept all the credit. Most of it goes to Matt for providing the locale, but we had a group of about 6 guys and gals that put everything together. He had been doing a haunt for several years before I found out he did the halloween stuff too last year! (It is amazing we went for so long without knowing the other loved halloween too!) I found out last year with just enough time to help him last minute, so we didnt really have time to pool our efforts. This year however, we were able to work quite a bit together, and considering we are both high school seniors with VERY limited budgets, I think we did a pretty good job. We collected donations for the American Cancer Society and recieved about $70 dollars in donations (the haunt was free though).
So now that I have scared away anyone with the boring background, on to the haunt. As I said before, we only realized we both loved halloween last year, and so this was the first time he had had any help other than himself on his haunt, so we knew we were up to the challenge of expanding significantly. Also, being most of our senior years, we knew that we needed to shoot high, because it was going to be a long time before we were going to be haunting (at least in a neighborhood). He told me he had wanted to do a Saw house, but was waiting until he could do it right, so it seemed the stars had alligned and we had our theme.
Over the course of several months we brainstormed ideas, and each settled on our own projects (traps) that we would ultimately bring together in an expanded, enclosed haunt. I was tasked with the Reverse Beartrap, the bathroom trap (toilet, foot, saw, etc.), various hanging props, and Billy (which ended up being my little bro). I can post more pics of the props I made (I still have the crappy toilet and rusty saw blade in the barn). I live in the boonies, and so we had to haul all of the props and construction materials from my house to his, and you should have seen the faces on the people on the road as we passed them with the toilet.....!
The actual setup was a nightmare, as we had every element against us, literally! The rain kept us delayed in sinking the poles into the ground, and even then, the wet ground made it hard to keep them upright. The wind was a nightmare when it came to getting the tarps up, and even then they would tear away if we didnt get them secured right away. On top of all this, it snowed. I am going to let that sink in for a bit. It SNOWED DIPPIN' DOTS SIZED SNOW ON HALLOWEEN!!! Granted we have had crazier weather before, but still, it was just a strange combination of elements.
We finally got everything set up, and we had a blast. The ToTs were waiting anxiously, but from what we could see, loved it. THey were completly supprized at how quickly the whole thing just appeared in two days, and though it was cold, you could hear them begging to go again! We had just the right amount of patrons, as there was never a line longer than two or three minutes, but a constant flow through.
So, now that you have all been bored to tears, I give you the video! We took it after ToTing had ended, but we were still filtering through some family and "special" tours. Some of the props had been shut off (the shotgun chair with the zombie jason guy, we called him Lenny, would thrash about and call for help) but we did the best we could getting it on film. Like always, the vid doesnt quite do it justice, but we got most everything in there. We did have an actual story line, and we did things different when the guests went through, but I will leave that description below, because this is already way too long!Sorry!
BTW: Most of the pics had to be taken the day after, in the light, but the wind came through and whipped things up quite a bit. I guess everyone has their hitches!

Well, I am going to work to get a list of all the traps in the order they appear, and post some pics of the props I made, but until then, I hope you guys enjoy it.
I cant get the pics from the website to post here, but we have all the pics and some other vids on the website, which I shall link to here: http://www.wix.com/fnfrightnight/fai...h-fright-night
ANxious to hear what you guys think! And, again, sorry about this just getting posted here now!

Thanks Terra! Luckily we didnt have too many freak outs!
haha!
The one thing I have to say, is that it was freezing cold, and I was Dr. Gordon in the bathroom. This would have been fine, except I (stupidly) wanted to be as true to the movie as possible, and so I had no sock or shoe on my right foot. Ok, still not totally bad, but I had to sit on my left foot the whole time to position the fake leg just right. Compound all that with the fact I was basically drenched in fake blood, and I had one leg slowly freezing off as the other one went numb. Needless to say it was fun standing up for the first time after 3 hours!
Glad you liked! I actually used some of your staining techniques (for tombstones) for the toilet! I still find it funny that I needed to make a toilet look disgusting on purpose, instead of the other way around, but hey, that's halloween for ya!
