I found these Programmable Relay Controllers and have fell in love with it. I am not connected to this site in anyway but a customer.
http://www.factorymation.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.43/.f
I ordered the TECO Genie II Programmable Relay, 12 AC Inputs, 8 Relay Outputs, Bare-board (OEM), 120 / 240VAC Powered. I wired the 8 relays to standard outlets. Wired a spotlight motion detector to one of the AC inputs and away I went. The software to program it was free and drag and drop. The control has 15 times, 15 counters, 15 internal registers, 12 inputs and clock. For $79 dollars and another $20 for the cable to connect to the pc to program it has worked great.
I have been able to do some pretty cool programing with it.
The motion detect was set to turn on relay one causing my hangman to start kicking. Relay 2 turns on my speakers for the screaming mp4 for the man. After the one of the internal timer expires both are turned off.
The mat as the second input triggered relay 3,4 and 5. Relay three turned on and starts one of the controller timer. After 1 second it turns it off. I used this for my air cannon. I then used relay 4 to turn on a strobe light at the same time again left it on until a second timer counts down. Relay five then fires a second air cannon 4 seconds later to get the last person in the group as they walk by.
Because this control is so flexible and can support up to 256 lines of code I am planning to program my props to have different behaviors and have the control count the number of times it has been triggered and run different different code each time.

That sounds pretty cool and the price looks affordable.

I would get the 12V input model, especially with a mat switch. Looks like a good deal.

I have had the smaller version,sb2-10kr-a , for a few years and it is very easy to program and very versitale. I have used mine to start a routine that includes starting VSA, via a keyboard hack, and been able to program a timer so the routine can't be triggered until it has run the full course. It works great !!

captpete,
I have the 12v mat hooked to a 110v relay with 12v coil. That way it is 12v at the TOT and can than be the 110v to the controller.

Hi
we started getting into halloween last year and this year I just got ahold of a teco controller, 110 volt anyway I am looking for a inexpnsive way to play sounds, music etc. trigger by the relays. I noticed that you said you did that and was wandering how?
Thanks

Ulfric,
I have the same question as Morstang, how are you playing your sound files? I have several motion activated props but I am left with the sound being looped through an mp3 player. Obviously I am at the mercy on where in the loop the sound "comes on". Would much rather have a routine play.

I just browsed the user manual. My head hurts.

It is really not as difficult as it seems. I set up some lights on the outputs and played around with the different timers, counters, and internal relays to see what would happen with different inputs. If you really want to understand what is going on you can try this site http://www.plcs.net/contents.shtml . It will give you a generic explanation and some examples to try. If you need some help let me know and I'll see what I can do.
