I have a bumper sticker that says Zombie outbreak response team.
It got me thinking as I was driving...
what if someone made a similar sign with bio hazatd logo and all that said Zombie response vehicle. One that was large enough to have turned into one of those magnetic signs you see on the door of a truck that does contracting work, etc
get one of those magnetic spining lights (what do you call them) you see on volenteer emergency vehicle. Not that you would turn it on. but just that its there.
I have a pick up so I has thinking about a 3' Dia. tube. Dont know the size of thos carboard tube they use for making cement pillars. Maybe even a 55 gal drum. Laying on its side. Put some gauges, blinking lights. maybe even a small steering wheel at the end.// to look like one of those pressure hatches you see in the old submarine movies. Smoke machine could sent smoke to a vent in the canister.
Back to the sign on the vehicle. what if you put a phone number. You know some body is going to actually call. Well, what if you added a phone line with one of those magic jacks you see advertised for cheap.
have an answering machine message:
"you have reached the zombie outbreakcontrol center. we are experiencing unusally high call volume, please stay one the line. Operator answers "zombie outbreak control, what is your emergency...static (you hear in the background other operators, lots of keybopards. Maybe a military guy yelling I want those zombies erraticated (sp?) before they reach the white house etc etc before the static takes over and the line goes dead.
This is all just something that poped into my head. So I havent looked into anything yet to see if these ideas are do-able.
But maybe there is someone here that has the talent for the sign or even the message for the control center.

That sounds fantastic. That magnetic sign would be a hoot to put on your car every Halloween for forever. In regards to the message, look up Chris Baker, the Hauntcast host. He does voice overs at a really reasonable price.
Here's a car that was spotted in LA. Could get some ideas too. They did a back glass thing:

I found these guys that I believe started as an internet gaming clan, but branched off to wilderness survival and the like with a zombie theme, lol
They actually have a couple of vehicles for inspiration already and their forums have some interesting material on how to make your home livable for an extended period of time! They also have info on making a B.O.B ( bug out bag ) and stuff so when **** hits the fan you have a bag that has all the necessities one would need in a zombie infested world!

The thread above more revolves around the vehicle portion of a zombie vehicle! Have fun!

There is a flat black Pathfinder with roof racks, lights grill guard and stars/military style lettering driving around Salt Lake. It says Zombie Patrol on it and is really tasteful and VERY well done.. I will try to snap a pic, seems we run into each other in traffic several times a week.
My name is legion, for we are MANY

Would be interesting to pick a theme/approach for your zombie defense vehicle...
- Tank-like: Bolted-on armor, slits for people to stick guns out of, etc. This could also look like what they drive on "Stormchasers" on Discovery channel.
- Bio-chemical style: Big tank of some corrosive spray that would decompose the zombies faster. Would have to label the storage tank and so on to get this across. Then you could mount a big pivoting spray gun & not have it interpreted as a machine gun.

Hey Iceman,
i whipped this up real quick using a text to talk program. It could work for that phone call thing you were talking about. Only the prerecorded first half of the phone call. http://www.2shared.com/audio/bP5Pvjj...breakinro.html

Hey Eyegore that was cool.
I was thinking...
Do you think you could add something like "at the tone please leave your location and degree of infestation. A Zombie response team will be dipatched to your area immediately."
Just in case i cant get the operator with background chatter as described earlier. If someone calls. The tone to leave a message is eventually gonna sound. so why not make that part of what the message says. What do you think?
I found this regarding the lettering of a vehicle but I think it looks pretty permant. I emailed to see if they had anything that wasnt permant.
anyone here know if they make these things out of the peel and stick vinyl
