i could use some help boys and girls.
for christmas, i recieved this suit of armour.
its heavy, around 97lbs.
i'd like to use it as a prop next year and add a little animation.
i want something fairly subtle although i'm unsure what to do.
heres what i'm thinking.
eyes that light up are a must.
something as simple as the head turning, would make me happy, but to tell you the truth, i have visions of the suit in a relaxed state then quickly standing attention.
looking for idea's.
what to do, how to do it etc etc.
what do you guys think? what would you do with a 16th century replica armour?
thx

.....is stand it in the corner of my bedroom. The room is decorated in a medieval theme. Dragon lanterns, faux rock walls. My way of keeping Halloween alive 365 days.
How about him standing with sword in hand fighting a fire breathing dragon. Use monster mud and pvc to construct dragon. Maybe could only do his head if you have a way of to showcase his head coming from a cave. Use fog for the fire."Every town has an Elm Street"

WOW! What a great present from Santa! Some very interesting possibilities with a cool prop like that. At 97 pounds though, you're probably looking at using wiper motors or heavy duty pneumatics instead of servos to get that thing to do what you want. Good project for the adventurous or even a great static prop!
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be...

Awesome gift... I'd suit up first of all. Then, go joust.
As far as a prop..maybe you could make it shake and rattle somehow with a motion detector and a motor. Maybe also a moan or voice coming from inside. Like its haunted...I dunno...Just a moan or a plea for help if you want subtle?

You could look at Leonardo Da Vinci's plans for his mechanized knight.
It was steel cables that moved every thing via the use of pulleys. Or you could simply put a thumper massager inside his chest cavity so it beats against the breast plate on a motion sensor.

whats wrong with the red skirty thing? its actually part of the original armour.
if i loose the skirt, your gonna see the junk. lol
i actually do have plans to start a chainmail skirt to replace it. lol.
great idea's guys and girls. maybe thats all it needs. light up eyes and a strange knocking or painful moan.
although i would love to see/hear this entire suit come to life.

How about.... Does the face mask move? If so...you could mount a skull or corpsed head/skull behind it and then use a wiper motor to raise and lower it. With careful positioning, you could light the skull eyes and it would also show through the face mask when its in the down position.
So many ideas....Too little storage space

I would dig out the Oujia board, contact a spirit and see if you can get it possessed. Then have it chase the neighbor kids around on Halloween. There may be a demonic possession ritual in the tutorials, but I have not looked......... Oh and I agree with Lady, I would lose the skirt thingy.
