Hello all.. I was going through some old halloween pics of mine and came across this scare crow prop. Used to put this one up from about 2001 to 2006 or so. I came up with an idea for a scarecrow using a blank male mask for a face, I thought it would be pretty creepy, it was... : ) I used to call it Mr Scary..

I built this with things that were lying around..either in storage or the attic. It is a large prop and was not east moving it around. Originally the wooden cross like foundation was taller, However, I cut it down to make it more manageable..

That really looks like a person the way its posed there. It must be the mask. Those are actually really creepy little 2 dollar items that get overlooked a lot. Ive never seen one used on a scarecrow, it looks good.!

Thanks everyone.. Ya, those blank face masks are creepy. You cna find them everywhere now. However, when I got that one, it was almost 10 years ago and it was purchased at a kind of magic/prop shop. I am not sure if they were as mass produced then as they are now.

Those masks are awesome, and thanks to the dance crew The JabbaWockeez, these are sold everywhere now, even in the off season. They wear them while performing, and definately are one of the reasons these masks are sold everywhere now. I wore one this year and was answering the door with it on, playing a mute and making sharp, jerky movements, and it really scared the hell out of most of the kids. Turned it upside down and dripped blood down it. These things are limitless, and I think they are certainly creepy. (I'll probably borrow your scarecrow idea)

I bet people were freaked out when that door opened...lol..

For Halloween for one or two years, I wore this mask and a long black hooded robe. You only saw the mask embedded deep in the black of the hood. It was a simple, but scary costume.
