Was wondering if the fan inside the inflatables could be used for something outside? Has anyone ever tried it? Was thinking that they must be good for outdoor use with minimal protection. And I would like to make a faux fire this year that I could leave outside for a month. If I tied some orange/ yellow silk (and added lights, etc...) onto the fan maybe I could make faux fire. BUT... I've never seen the inside of an inflatable to know what the fan looks like. Since I'm sure they'll be clearanced soon (or maybe pick one up at a thrift shop), I'd like to know if it's worth getting one.
The other faux fires are usually built with the high velocity fans. I'm wondering if the fan in an inflatable is strong enough.
Any help is appreciated. And sorry for the ramble... just thinking out loud.

If you find clearanced ones see if they have the colors you will need for fire and cut them up to make flames. I'm not sure if they are powerful enough to fan them when it isn't enclosed. The smallest rip really affects whether it stands up or not...they can easily be sewn back up tho'
They are all made differently...some are just velcro-ed onto the base so you can try it out by removing the fabric. The good thing is there is usually a plug around the base to add the lights you will need.

I was thinking of making my own inflatable. Like a ghost (Motion activated) that would "pop up" from behind a tombstone. I got the ideal from a video I seen a while back about an artist in NYC who uses the subway vents for inflatable art.
Here is a video of it

That is so funny! I have a few taken apart so I could see the insides and try to fix my blow-ups. If some one tells me how to post pictures I will post a few. It should be able to do the fire thing. They are very strong blowers.

When am I going to learn? My Dog ate my Christmas inflatables 2 years ago, and I didnt keep the fans. My Only Excuse is I wasn't a member of HF then - silly me. Before I throw away anything other than bonified trash, I'd better check with you guys! HM
You said you wanna what? with who? I don't think so!

I know right! I even used the scrap metal from an old air filter for the air conditioner to make a vortex fogger. Kind of messy and painful pulling it apart, but it gave me more than enough for an ice fence. I definately keep everything until I take a glance at this site. lol
