Hello all...This is something I have been working on recently. I usually use clay for heads and faces and snot rag mache for the body skin. This time, I thought I would try to use it for a head and face. It's not quite done, I need to do a bit more detailing and I might add hair..

Thanks everyone...I tried a new approach with this thing.. Sort of all experimental..The teeth and Gum techniques are probably something brand new.

Hi chop shop.. yup, I thought that.. it looks like a National Geographic mummy..I thought about adding bandages...

    Here is the tutorial LadyAlthea...

The head is aluminum foil...Then, Facial tissue/kleenex with Elmers glue. Here is a link for some the the layering techniques. The first technique is not my layering technique... I used this technique for the basic covering. However, for the gaps and to fill it in more. I improvised my own technique and made chunks and pieces of the mache and filled in the gaps or places that needed bulking up. I also, mixed some water in with some of the glue from time to time. The eye ball and ears were made out of clay.

The teeth and gums are really experimental and dare I say, probably a technique not used before. I cut out each individual tooth out of a paper plate. Any thin cardboard would do. From there, I layed each card board tooth on a non stich surface.. Such as aluminum foil. I used a glue gun and kind of made a blob of glue on each tooth. Going very carefully so not to have it extend beyond the cardboard outline. This formed the actual tooth. After hardening, each tooth was glued in with a dab of glue on the top of the teeth and glued onto the upper and lower inside of the mouth. Then, with the glue gun, I squuezed out globs of glue all along the teeth to form gum lines.

Also, I need to add that for the molars, I actually just used round blobs of glue on top of aluminum foil. After it hardens, I just kind of tore away the foil around the tooth leaving a round molar with a foil bottom. At this point these were glued in the mouth the same way. After everything set, if there were any big holes in the teeth. I used tiny bits of clay to fill them in.

You do not have to be too concerned about perfection when doing the teeth this way, some might be too big, to small, completely jagged etc.. It won't matter becase when you paint the teeth and gums, you can paint black all around the edges of the teeth to make they look like you want.

Pic 1 is the foil head.
Pic 2 is the head mached and the teeth put in. This shows the glue gun teeth and gums. Also, a piece of cardboard (actually a piece of a paper towel roll glued onto the edge of the nose to simulate a boney nose tip).
Pic 3 shows the addition of an eye. Also, it originally had 2 eye balls, however, I removed one and let the skin that covered the eye harden. This makes it looks like an eye cavity with no eye.
Pics 4 nad 5 is the finished product.
