I thought it would be fun to share what pirate props you are building this year.Since this is my first year I have to build alot.
    On my build list is-
    1-a pirate sterring helm(animated)-
    2-pirate fighting on the plank(animated)-
    3-cannons-
4-a mermaid-treasure box(this one will be premaid I will just have to put the booty in it)-
5-going to try to build some lowered boxes and put black plastic filled with water to make it look like a ocean-
    6-a fishing pirate(maybe animated)
    7-A mast and crows nest-
8-a blanket with glue and sand to look like a beach.
Right now I am getting supplies.Have lots to do.
So what are you guys building.

Did a pirate theme a few years back at the campground. Put a crows nest on top of the trailer. It was actually a whiskey barrel planter box. Inside was a skeletons torso attached to a rotating christmas tree stand. The stand rotated 150 degrees and then turned back the other way. Made it look like he was scanning the horizon.

Good luck with your builds. Post pics as work progresses. Would love to see them.

    ajbanz--
I have seen xmas tree stands that rotate 360 but not one that only goes 150. Is that the way it came or did you modify it?
So many ideas....Too little storage space

The stand came that way. Bought a few of them after christmas one year. Some have the larger hole for a real tree and some have the smaller hole for an artificial tree. We used the one for the real tree and wrapped duct tape around a piece of pvc so it fit snugly in the hole. Here's a photo.

I'm starting to mish mosh the stuff together for a pirate room. I have a two car garage and basement under the house, so I usually section it off, and do a different theme for each room.

    - I had a talking skeleton in 2007, so I'm going to reuse him holding the helm and talking. I also built a talking crow that I had in a cemetery scene.
    - I'm 70% done with the two cannons I built.
    - I have most of the hardware for the helm.
    - I have fishing nets
    - Need to start gathering supplies for a pirate chest.

....and thats only the first room.....
