I experimented with this cat and put a low voltage DC power supply on this and it lights, but i'm thinking it needs AC to run the changing light color effect. I don't want to guess wrong and burn it out. Does anyone recognize this decoration? The company is in china and there seems to be no easy way to contact them.

I assume you bought it without a power supply, or does it run on batteries? If battery-powered, just match the voltage (4AA = 6VDC, for example). You can't go too high with the amperage - the prop will use only what it needs. I think AC will blow the prop since it probably uses LEDs as the light source.

It does not run on batteries, the power adapter was misplaced with a box full of supplies. I have the supply, but have no idea which one it is. When I plug in a 6vdc supply, it works, but only one color comes out of the fiber optics. I was assuming it was an AC motor driving a wheel or something to change the colors. I didn't want to have to break into the cat, then glue it back together to see the innards. very cheap design and they didn't engrave the voltage on the power input. I tried to find the company, but can find no information other than it is a Chinese company. It doesn't even list the american importer. The brand is fairly common though, "Haunted Hollow"

I'm running out the door but I caught this:

    http://ocala.craigslist.org/for/2028921978.html

Maybe email them and see if it's sold or not, if they still have it maybe they can look at it.

Hi, Thanks for the link. Funny, but I looked it up again too and found that the other day but the email was already deleted. But, I didn't notice the phone number in the ad the first time! So I called them, they haven't sold the thing yet, and they are going to look at it for me. Thanks!

Yes, I have the radio shack version of that power supply. My fear is putting too much voltage to it and burning it out, or trying A/C when it is really DC and burning it out. I may have to dremel it apart after all, look at the guts to see the circuit board and reverse engineer a schematic for it, and then see if I can get it back together. Thanks for the help.
