I'm looking for some ideas on what to add to the top of my fence pillars.
The fence I built this year has 9 foam pillars between the pvc fence sections and another 6 pillars with chain between them on the driveway.

I had a couple of the bases come unglued on Halloween so I'm adding a 5/16 threaded rod to them between the top and bottom plywood pieces. I've left them long until I decide what to add to the tops so I can use them to secure the topper.
I'm looking for something a bit unique but it needs to be sturdy and not too expensive.
    Any thoughts or ideas?

I cut receiving holes in the tops of mine to accept tiki torche bottles. Not only do I not have to wire up lights, but the flicker gives a nice eerie effect.

What doesn't kill you can still make you walk funny.

Gargoyles are great! Anyone know of a cheap source for decent sized ones?

I would love to have gargoyles but the problem has been finding decent ones for a reasonable price since I need 15.

Wow! 15 needed? That might be tough to find.

You could build something out of pkywood and give it a coat or two of Drylock.

    Here are some cool shapes:

Or, if you have the time, you could make a more ornate pillar cap with a ball top. If you can get some cheap styrofoam balls or other sturdy ball (don't want to use a beach ball or something that will lose air over time).

just do a google image search for "Pillar Tops" or "Pier Tops" and you'll see lots of examples.

If you have time, some money and good creativity you can go to Stolloween's site and create them out of paper mache and other cool stuff. Here is the direct link to the gargoyles.

I am in the process of doing some paper mache myself. Problem is finding enough paper I want to donate to this project to create a big enough prop.

Some easy and cheap ideas for Halloween:

Skulls on top of them. An arm/hand then a skull in the hand. A spike or spikes (fake of course out of Styrofoam or something else), flicker lights or tiki torches. You could get the old-fashioned looking lanterns and put them on each of them with a flicker light on them. Just a few ideas.

Here's a couple different thoughts. Skulls with changing LED eyes. Terra's PVC flicker candles. How about going old school and doing 15 Jack-O-Lanterns,
When storage is a concearn, put your monster props under the kids beds.
