I'm a noob to Halloween Forum ("Hi!"). I put up a video of our Haunted Homestead haunt yesterday and got a couple of questions about the Pumpkin Sentinels so I though I'd post this slide show which details the construction for anyone that's interested. By the way, their names are Charles and Howard.
Built from scratch using papier mache over a wood base. The ribs are cardboard with masking tape to give them shape then papier mache'd. The slideshow gives you a little detail on the work.
Inside the pumpkin head is an orange CFL and Cowlicious LED fader eyes. I hacked the lanterns to install a 110V C7 candelabra base flicker lamp and sprayed the glass with simple fixative to look like etching. There's a homemade LED orange spotlight on the base to light them up while they're guarding the entrance to Haunted Homestead. There's a video on youtube showing them finished. The Haunted Homestead 2010 is there, too.
Most expensive item is the Cowlicious Deluxe LED Eye faders, the rest is stuff I had laying around. Probably have about $35 - $50 material cost in each of them. It took about a month to put them together. The sound track triggers automatically when TOT's walk up the front walk, although when it got really busy it was not as cool an effect as I thought it'd be.
The PIR triggers a 123Electronics 50 second sound card playing through computer speakers, sound not included in the $35 - $50.
Hope you like them,
