I'm running out of room in my basement for storing my props. So my question is where do you store your props? I want to by a shed for the yard to put everything in, but I'm wondering how they handle with weather. I live in Winnipeg, Canada where is gets very hot and very cold. Can the props hold out in these weather conditions?

I store my larger props under the house (I have a very large crawl space) and the smaller props and skeletons up in the attic. I have two really large props, an 18' ships' mast and a wrecked row boat that get stored on the side of my house.
A storage shed sounds like a great idea. I would guess you could throw in some rolled insulation and be good to go. The only problem I have ever had with prop storage was with a box of candles that ended up in the attic, where it got hot enough to melt them....So the new candles get stored in the basement!Thank ye matey, from the bottom of me scurvy heart......"One Eye'd" Mick
The ships' doctor warned me that I've been partaking in too much wine, women and song and told me that I should cut back a bit.........I am really going to miss the singing.....

I put mine in the basement but, the majority of them end up in the garage and garage rafters. I have learned to keep anything like laytex in the garage. I've had masks and laytex covered spiders have the rubber pull away from them and are ruined. The heat is just too much for them in the rafters. I live in MN. so I can relate to the extremes in both climates.

you need to buy a hearse. FANTASTIC storage space. I have my entire graveyard in mine. skellies, zombies and tombstones. not to mention all the rebar to hold them all down. big wall props are in my shed. electronics are broken down and stored seperately.

In the rafters. The cheap laytex on my spiders stuck and when I pulled them apart they tore. The masks did better but, were still stuck together from the heat. They came apart alright but, I don't want to take the chance again.

We've got a 10'x12' storage barn where we store our props and decorations. We've been doing it for the past four or five years, and haven't noticed any adverse effects from the weather. We don't get the cold like you do, but we get up in the high 90's for weeks on end in the summertime.

Yep, a hearse is the way to go...except, I keep mine in the garage. But you can put stuff in it, under it and on top of it. Attic and shed both have the same issues...too cold or too hot. So figure out what you have that can withstand the extremes and set all that stuff in the attic or shed.
I think electronics would survive the cold, but to me, but if you can avoid it...do so.
