For next year: My electric chair is always a big hit... sander mounted to the bottom with a smoke machine and strobe. Anyway, I always have people sit on it and then another person gets to pull lever...

So what I want to do this next year is give them some sort of actual low voltage shock. I have a small game that is a reaction game that shocks the person who loses (hurts on the top setting!) and was thinking about rigging that up somehow... Any ideas on how to make this happen?

Not sure how they work, but I would warn people that if they have a heart condition or pacemaker not to sit in the chair. It could be dangerous. (read the warnings on your game first)

What about something like this. If you do let me know how it works. Thinking about doing the same thing.

I used the scatmats in a haunted house one year where we wrapped them around the hand rail and set the room up like a storm with a downed power line across the rail. We'd warn people not to touch the rail..... but they would never listen, touch the rail and zap!

The next year we used them in the haunted house again, but this time we set it across a bench in a court house room. The visitors would sit on the bench as the jury/witnesses and the judge passed judgement "The Chair!". He'd flip the switch on the wall to turn on the electric chair and fry the criminal, but it was the visitors who ended up getting zapped.

We've been waiting for the right year to build a court room with shock benches. It finally fits next years theme. We had planned to use sanders under the benches that go off when we throw the switch on the electric chair ...but now I'm wondering if that's enough of a scare.

Madmangt, may I ask why your not going with your sanders again? Was it not a good enough surprise? What did you use for the seat bottom, metal? If so what type? Sorry so many questions, I want to build this thing once lol. Thanks

I built the chair about 3 years ago and it works great! It definitely still surprises first time sitters! However, I have lots of repeat TOT's and party goers that I am looking to really surprise year after year! I have my sander, strobe, and fogger all rigged to prop knife switch. The bottom of the chair is metal roof flashing, which should conduct just fine. If I was doing the real shock, I would probably have a hidden switch on control box that turns on the shocker and then throw the knife switch... That way you can pick who you think would be appropriate to use the real shock on!

So, Pod, are the mats adjustable on what type of shock? Is the low setting low enough for humans?
