Thanks to many of the prop building ideas on this site, my power problem was getting out of control. This year I added another CPU and USB lighting. The problem was how to keep all of this weather proof and hidden. So I thought of a power center shaped like an Obelisk. The whole thing will be controlled by an outdoor timer wired into the main power cord. The base will house 8 GFI 120v outlets with 2 outlets controlled by a dimmer switch. The second level will be for 2 CPUs and a rack of USB ports will go onto the third level. The frame will be made out of 1x2’s and ¼ inch plywood and a gargoyle statue for a topper. Each level will have a hinged door to access the power source. Velcro straps will be used to guide the cables to the base and out. A couple coats of fiberglass over the ply will weatherproof it.
Great idea.
I have used my entrance pillars as my power and lighting stations in the past. I sold a pair of them this year and had to build a big cross tombstone to hide the power supplies and some lighting for 1/2 the graveyard. It always seems to work out great and I have had rain, snow and just about everything else come to ruin my stuff and I haven't had a problem yet.
