I was wondering if anyone knew of the placement of the mirrors for this illusion

If I remember correctly, the two mirrors meet at the middle of the table (at the front) and angle back at 45 degrees toward the back legs. I think the back legs of the table you see in that picture are a reflection.

I saw this at Distortions Unlimited's booth at Transworld years ago. It actually has no mirrors. The actor is just laying in a half tube sort of thing attatched to the bottom of the table he was just sticking his head and arms through the table top. I remember it must not have been very comfortable because they had very noticable pillows in the neck and shoulder area. The tube was very small to help keep it hidden so you had to be really skinny to fit in it.
Imagine taking a large pipe and cutting it in half lengthwise then attatching it to the bottom of the table and then having your actor lay in the tube. The table was a little short so it was hard to tell how it was done just walking by but if you bent way over and looked under it you could see how they did it. I never got to see how the actor got in and out of the table. I'm assuming that the table top lifted up so the actor could get inside but again I'm not sure because I never saw anyone getting out of it.
They might be making it using mirrors now but when I saw it in 1999 it was just the tube like I described it.

so the mirrors are very similar to the spill you guts illusion I bet. I did have some detailed drawings of this a while back but seemed to have missplaced them, imagine that

I like the hinged top idea. I would try, if possible, to make just a platform rather than a tube for the actor to lay on. i think that would be more comfortable.

This is only for our 2 hour Haunted Garage trick or treating so I think that would also help in the comfort area. I will post up pics as it progresses.

    nice!!!!

you opted for a deeper bed. I would really like to try to use the mirrors to have a shallow bed to really sell the effect. I may be nit-picking and kids/guests would never notice.

I think this would be great in the haunt next year.
