That is such a good idea!!!!!! To build on your idea, another option would be to find an evening blouse with a high neck and long sleeves. Do the Frankenstein thing by sewing the skirt of the dress to the blouse. That should give a lot more flexibility in finding the right dress.
Here's what I would think would work very well:

I went to the thirft store day and the dress I saw the other day was on sale 50% of so I bought it for $30.00 not to bad. Here's pictures of it. The back is really nice. You can't see it, but the top has buttons down the center and beadind and lace. I think when I do it I might put the hair a little to the side so you can see some of the detail. Now I just have to get the rest of the stuff. I'm so excited!

OK Kids , I finally started working on my stuff. Yesterday we cut all the styrofoam pieces & I got the front panel worked on. I made the epitah with my word on the pc & pinned it to the styro & used an ink pen to trace it into the styrofoam. Then Jerry burned the letters out.
I also got the dresses ripped & sewn back together. Terra I have a question. Steve from the Terror Syndicate says the MM is very heavy so I was wondering, before I start applying it to the bottom dress, should I make sure that that dress is sewn in tightly so when the mud gets applied & the weight starts to pull on that delicate material the dress stays in place?
Right now I have it pretty well just stitched in in different places but I could go back over it & stitch the whole thing down. I added some progress photo's, the last one is of the 2 dresses sewn together.

I am taking a break from my tombstone this week. I have been painting my kitchen, fence and front porch, as well as several other smaller to do's before my parents visit this weekend. I didn't realize how involved I was on this project until I had to lug everything back to the storage room. Man after the 5th trip I was exhausted. Now I have to lug everything back to the front porch Monday and start again.
I have the Styrofoam box done. I am dremeling away one the box to give it a stone appearance. The name and lettering is all done. I picked up the ingredients for the monster mud. I have the dress, mannequin body, head, and hair.
Once I get through with the detail work, I will monster mud the entire tombstone. Then I would like to add some fake roses and ivy to the front, then monster mud these.
Because my lady is larger then my tombstone box, I am going to have to put her beside the box sitting on a bench that I will create out of wood. I am still trying to figure out what to do with her arms and hands. Thinking about having her to hold a bouquet of roses. All of this will be monster mudded.
So that is where I am currently.. Excited to get back to my project come Monday.
