I am new to prop building, but am already addicted. I tried to make an improvised pneumatic cylinder from a door closer but I am having too much air escape the rod end of the cylinder. It takes almost 55 psi to activate the rod. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The only thing I can say is to get a real cylinder . One of the vendors here sells a real nice starter kit that has the cylinder, tubing, fittings, and the solenoid valve. I want to say its fright props but I can't remember. Another thing you should to is read the guide put together by Skeletal Remains, It is very informative and easy to understand for someone starting pneumatics. Give me a few minutes and I'll find the links I'm refering to and post them for you. here is the guide Beginner's Guide to Props and Pneumatics
