For my Time Warp themed party, I want to mix hits from different eras with our playlist, 20s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s. Any suggestions? I have only been around since the 80s. I have done some internet researching but am not sure which ones are truly songs our older guests will know.

I'm not old enough to remember most of these when they were first popular, but I love music, and I'm pretty sure about them being big hits for the time periods:

    1920s

    1960s

Are You Lonesome Tonight? - Elvis Presley

    Shop Around - The Miracles

Please Mr. Postman - The Marvelettes

Twist and Shout - The Beatles

You Really Got Me - The Kinks

She's Not There - The Zombies

(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction - Rolling Stones

Dance to the Music - Sly and The Family Stone

Mrs. Robinson - Simon & Garfunkel

    Space Oddity - David Bowie

Eleanor Rigby - The Beatles (they exploded on the scene, leading the "British Invasion" and deserve several places on any 1960s list of hits)

Paint It, Black - The Rolling Stones (ditto to the above - major influence in rock music)

    1970s

(really couldn't name them better than this site...)

Few stand outs that go with a party:

    Superstition - Stevie Wonder
Frankenstein - The Edgar Winter Group

    1980s

FUNKYTOWN! (sorry but just heard this tonight in a store and reminded me of the roller rink... DEFINITELY a big hit from the 80s)

Thriller! Can't believe this is from the 80s.

    Nasty - Janet Jackson

    Lullaby - The Cure

Dead Man's Party - Oingo Boingo

    1990s

    Intergalatic - The Beastie Boys

Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

    Vogue - Madonna

    Zombie - The Cranberries

Any of the Nutsie.com songs are definitely hits that anyone that was alive during those decades should remember...
