I usually have between 4 - 6 different sounds in my haunted house. I currently use a mix of, computers, laptops, stereo receiver, boom boxes, PA system, and a bunch of different speakers, and its a mess. What do you use for the music and sounds for your haunt? What do pro haunts use? Would be nice to use a computer with 3 or 4 (6 - 8 channels) sound cards and some kind of mixing board to control volume to all the different speakers.

I used to use boom boxes mostly & a couple of old laptop. Got tired of lugging stuff around music wise + the older boom boxes kept hanging up & tired of resetting them,
so now i use mp3 players ( bought 10 for $20 at a store blow out during xmas ) with pc power speakers ( i get from Salvation army for a couple bucks ) for each scene, with a few props with they're own controller & audio, a main home stereo for thunder ( for bass ) Another home stereo if I am doing a haunted organist theme for deep rich tones for the pipes, 1 surround around system for a specific ghost or haunted nursery room & a laptop for general fill in ambient were needed.

I thought about a laptop with a multi / 7.1 sound card, but don't want to have more wires running to each scene with power cords as it is, & wireless would get add up the cost. For home haunting, I'm happy with my set up for now.

For my Haunt, I have A main stereo system that plays the background atmosphere music, and I have sound cards with speakers at my individual props that require speakers. My main issue was with my skulltronix, making him loud enough over everything else. That issue was solved with an awesome speaker I got at Midwest haunters convention. You can hear him loud and clear now all the way down the block.

I used a DVD player in the garage playing Midnight Syndicate's BORN OF THE NIGHT as people entered. Upstairs was always A NIGHT IN A HAUNTED HOUSE, my favorite. The GHOUL LOG played on the main TV, and I would throw in some others for background effect, like DISNEY'S HALLOWEEN TREAT and something in the den. New house coming soon, so it will be time to experiment!

Thanks for the replies. Was kinda wondering if I had been going about my sound in all the wrong way, but it seems my sound stuff is inline with everyone else.
