I got a great Halloween themed puzzle from my husband's aunt for Christmas. It comes in a box that looks like an old book so I can display that as well. I want to display it after it's together.

I read online about puzzle glue? Do I need this special glue or can I use another kind?

    Any tips?

You can use Modge Podge or another type of decoupage glue to hold it togeather. (u can get Modge Podge at Walmart or craft stores)

Take a sponge brush and dip it in the Mod Podge glue. If your brush is too wide to do that you can pour a little bit of glue in an old bowl. Slide the puzzle onto a large piece of cardboard if it will stay together ok. If not leave it where it is. (though be careful putting the modge podge glue on it might make a mess)

Spread the glue onto the puzzle in a thin layer. If it's on a surface that you don't mind having glue dripped on then feel free to put a heavier layer of glue first. If your puzzle is on something you don't want to mess up then be careful not to use too much glue on the first layer. Maybe use just enough to coat it.

Let the first layer dry completely. Then add another thin layer, and let it dry. After that you can probably slide the whole puzzle from side to side and it should feel fairly sturdy. If not add another coat and dry it.

Then flip it over and add a coat to the back let it dry and test it if it seems sturdy enough you can move it anywhere then you're good to go if not just add another coat til you feel like it won't come apart.

oh and the good thing about modge podge is that there are several other things on this site people use it for, so you might even have some lying around.

Thanks. I do lots of other crafts (especially paper crafts) so I do have Modge Podge at all times. I'm glad I don't have to go out & buy special puzzle glue for this one puzzle. I'll share pictures once it's done.

my wife has many puzzles that she has put together and framed, and she always uses the puzzle glue. It works very well and the puzzles look great.

This thing took weeks off & on. The style of the painting & the detail made it very hard. Finally finished & ready to frame.
