I found this awesome pattern for a crocheted wrap on the internet yesterday -- it would be perfect for a witch costume so I just thought I'd share it here -- the pattern is $7.00 to download and looks kind of complicated, but it is gorgeous!!!

There's a short version and a long version, the long version pictured in black would be perfect for a costume!!

Here's a link to the pattern and the photos:

Here's also another one for a crochet shawl that looks like a spider web -- it's a free pattern:

those are very cool looking. i wish they would have pictured the second shawl on a person. i would have loved to seen it on someone. i haven't crocheted in so long i don't remember how. but this is tempting so i put it in my saved folder. so are you going to make one?

    LOL

I hadn't seriously thought about it, but after you asked, I realized I would like to make one! So I just bought the first one - the butterfly wrap. I've got plenty of time between now and Halloween to get it finished . . . (famous last words)

    Thanks!

i hope you post it. very pretty. it makes me want to take up knitting again, if i could only find time. last time i knitted was when i was pregnant with my daughter, who is now 34. i was doing a popcorn stitch of a sweater and booties. and put it up to go have her. when i came home from the hospital i was so busy i never finished it. i do still have a bunting outfit i made her though prior. what color do you think you will make it?

That shawlette is very cool! It looks easy yo make, one skein projects r my friend. I have been dying white yarn to get different spooky effects because the selction around here is pretty standard. Although I have found some specialty yarns on the web, they are $$pricey.

Well, I've been shopping and shopping for a yarn for this thing -- it's 3:13 a.m. and I finally just ordered Caron Simply Soft in Dark Country Blue. I think I'll be really happy with that but then I saw Angela's post:

What a great idea!!!! How do you dye the yarn? Do you buy the Ritz dye? Can you post some pictures? That is such a good idea. Wish I'd seen your post before buying my yarn!

I just buy chaep yarn and dye it. Go to the craft store, they have all kinds of fabric dye. I do not use RIT it is too messy & you have to dispose the unused dye in an earth friendly way.
