Default Halloween (ATC) Artist Trading Card Swap

Ok boys and girls I have a new idea that I am going to head up on the forums. It is called swapping.

So what is an ATC? ARTIST TRADING CARDS are miniature works of art created on 2 X 3 inch or 64 X 89 mm card stock.

they are originals, small editions and, most importantly, self-produced. anybody can produce them.
the idea is that you trade them with other people who produce cards, either at TRADING SESSIONS or wherever you meet another ATC trader in person.
it is important that you meet other people in person to trade - i.e. it is ok to trade by mail or to participate in editions but the main purpose of this performance is the trading session and the personal meeting.
It's not about money: participants in trading sessions and editions should not be charged any money: the point of the project is the exchange of cards as well as personal experience.

So what I would like to do is anyone who is interested in swapping a hand made ATC in the Halloween theme, should list they are interested. We will send one ATC to whom ever asks for one. For instance like how we do the Halloween Card Exchange. You can choose to send to how many ever people you want to.

Google Halloween ATC to see different types of examples.

You can purchase the ATC cards at craft stores or make your own out of cardboard or heavy card paper. Remember to write your name on the back of the card, date and the name of the card. Example: Halloween ATC

This is a fun way of meeting new people and spreading the halloween cheer year round.

I've just heard of these recently and was kinda interested but wondered, what does one do with the ones you collect? I shall do a search like you suggested.

There are a lot of things you can do with ATCs once you get them. Think of it like collecting lame baseball cards. I have several blank binders with plastic sleeves that I place my ATCs in. THen you have a whole book of trading cards and peoples art from all over the world. You can also frame them and hang em' up. You can also use them in a collage, the possibilities are endless

Sounds interesting, I think I'd be in for that. I have half the house covered in a creative mess most of the time anyway.

Oh no, not like a business card. Its like an art card, made by you. Its the same general size as a baseball card but decorated and created by you.

Of course you can google 'artist trading cards/ATCs' and get a better idea!

I'm not sure if the host is going to actually host this but it is a good form of art and creative outlet for a lot of people. I have loads upon loads of ephemera of all sorts and its a good way to recycle it and make a small piece of art for someone

I was waiting to see what the response would be. I love making this. The current theme in another swap I am in is torture devices.

Ok here is what I will do since there is a few of us here that are interested.

The first Atc swap will be Halloween related. Create 1 halloween ATC and send it to one partner. If you will PM me your name I will pair you up with another person that is interested in swapping with you. Then the both of you can workout a deadline to send to each other.

You can mail the ATC in a regular size envelope so the shipping won't be but a stamp. Try to decorate the outside of your envelope to reflect the ATC theme, or just plain halloween, scary, gory, something related to our group.

If you have any suggestions as to future halloween themed swaps, let me know or post one in the craft section.
