Talking Painting a Pumpkin

Okay so I'm looking to paint my pumpkin this year because I don't have time or space to carve. What kind of paint is the best? I'm thinking oil based... I'm gonna paint either Cerberus or a Resident evil dog!

I've always used acrylics. Water washup and it's a polymer when it dries so it should last as long as the pumpkin should (might start cracking and peeling if outside for weeks, but I'm sure it will be fine for Halloween)

Spraypainting could be fun too. To get the solid glossy paint, I'd think that would be the best choice.

If it was a longer time off (say you started this a month ago), you could have always sealed the pumpkin with a spray sealer - they come in clear coats and have a glossy or matte finish. That would ensure the paint would be good for a LONG time.

Oil would take forever to dry. Acrylics are best, listen to Frankie's Girl, she is wise.

Oh, and forgive my asking - no time and space to carve? You can clean and carve in your lap and it takes less time to clean and carve a classic Jack than to paint one.
If you want to paint, I understand, I like doing that sometimes, just curious.

We tried painting them one year with acrylics and spraypaint... both worked well, but it's just not the same to me...
Oh, yeah, and sometimes hardware stores carry paint pens. I can't remember the brand name of them but it would be good for your details...
