I finished the paint on the second one and finally honed the technique to make them a little more 'real' looking.

I'm laughing right now because I used leftover paint from my kitchen on them. As if you can't tell I have a giant square maxwell house can that I know has to be turned into either a pumpkin or a frankenstein head right now......hmmmmmm.

Paper Mache projects are best started EARLY in the season without a whole lot of expectations. tee hee. I made a 3 foot gargoyle one year that took FOREVER to dry. I think I was working on that one down to the wire.

It's just a jump to the left.....
And then a step to the right....

Spooky little girl - They came out great! The darker orange makes them look very 3D...nice job!
(p.s. I love your kitchen color, too!)

I think your doing a great job. I started a pumpkin tonight using the cellulose clay. I'm curious how long it will take to dry. Did a trial and error paste so it should be interesting.

I finished the first layer of the pumpkin which took a lot longer than I have planned and it still isn't hardened completely yet. It's been pretty humid here though. Mine took the entire weekend to dry. *****tapping fingers on table*******

I like the way your pumpkin looks! Long wicked stem....nice!

Which process do you prefer; using an original shape (like the first pumpins you did) or this style..(is it bags stuffed in a bag and then taped?)

I feel ashamed to say that I didn't make my pumpkin this week-end. But I did get my paper strips tore up....

Once again I feel inspired...but why does this always happen when I'm at work?

Yes, the second one is made from bags with tape and a tube to start the stem. I like the quirkiness of the second one, which I plan to make a 3D face on. But the 1st form that I copied came out with better accuracy. I guess I was inspired by everyones clumpy pumpkins that I needed to try that too. I'm starting to get lazy and wondering if the skull needs another coat or if I can get away with painting it now!!! Mus tbe the heat wave!!

lol! Can't wait to see your skull when you're done. As far as the pumpkins go, I think maybe I'll try the clumpy one first, that way if it looks messed up, I can just say I wanted it that way!
