Uh oh, you're transforming from a happy into a mad scientist, with a supply of truly nasty checmicals at your fingertips! Nothing good can come from this, except possibly a late night movie.
The intense chemical route is never nice. If it doesn't pan out, as an alternative have you considered switching brands for labels that can be removed, using a sheet of brown stained glass (I think you said you want to look through the glass for an effect), or looked into buying brown glass bottles, sans labels?
Boston Round Glass
If there is really something about the Red Stripe bottles in particular that you like, with a little detective work you may be able to track down their bottle manufacturer and purchase the bottles before the label is applied. You probably will need to be a good talker, though. Some manufacturers don't handle interruptions to their normal process well, especially for small quantities.
Good luck!

Demon Dog, you know, I have noticed my laugh sounding a little more evil lately. Hmm....
I have no particular attachment to the Red Stripe bottles, just that they were readily available and contained beer. Mmmmm.
The project wasn't so great that I will be buying any new bottles to complete it. To be honest, I'll probably abandon the project if the stripper doesn't work.
Thank you everyone for your input and time!

Happy Scientist, just reading this post now and found a web forum for beer bottles and this same question came up for painted on labels on Corona. The solution that seemed to work for those was something called Star-San, which was suggested by someone earlier on this thread. Were you able to find it and try it? Instead of describing it and getting something wrong here's the page where the tip was discussed (post 9 and 12):
Removing painted labels from Corona bottles? - Realbeer.com Beer Community Since the product is caustic to some degree, I don't think it would be recommended to use the StarSan in a metal trashcan. However, maybe someone who has used the product could comment on this.
Some more info on the product:
