I was able to pick up flickering led candles with automatic timers built in for a great price at Walgreen's after Christmas. I plan to use them for a display on top of the kitchen cabinets and this way once I turn them on they will come on for 8 hours and turn off for 16 hours. They will fit in my own candle holders so I'm going to scouting thrift shops to collect candle holders and spray them black. Then stretch a bit of spider webbing and maybe add a few crawlies. But in the rest of the house you just can't beat the look of real candles. Love the ideas I've read in this thread.

Something I do with one or two candles around Halloween time is to carve images or words into the side of the candle with the tip of a butter knife. After that I'll fill in the carving with an acrylic paint of my choice. Sometimes I'll even do little embelishments to the candle holders like hot-glue some trim around it or something.
And, I don't know if anyone knows this, but you can find some great taper and regular white candles at your local dollar store (I personaly visit the Dollar Tree a lot!!!)... Happy Hauntings!LKSmart <3

Everyone's ideas are so good. I too love the dripped wax look. I really liked the idea of using spray pain and water to give it a dirty, used look. I might have to try that. Here's a candleabra i made. I got the candleabra from goodwill and spray painted it black. Then took a red candle and dripped the wax down the white candles. I then covered it in spider webs.

Linus: You've heard about fury and a woman scorned?
Charlie Brown: Yes, I guess I have.
Linus: Well that is nothing compared to the fury of a woman who has been cheated out of tricks or treats!

Hey Tippy,
Candles are kinda my specialty! I have a Post about creating a candelabra with those flickering lights and Hot Glue! Also, in the past, I've taken Candelabras and candles and boiled some wax, used a turkey baster, sucked up the wax and dripped it down the candle. If you blow on it, it cools down and you get the look you're goin for! It's a little time consuming and I usually do it in a place with tile or concrete for easy cleanup, or put lots of newspaper down. U lose a baster, but the candles look awesome!!! Enjoy!Just take a Jack-o-Lantern, he'll always light the way.
