I LOVE her work!! That is beyond crafts.... that is art! I've admired them for a while... I cannot imagine how much work goes into each one. Beautiful!
I just called the dt and they told me they would not be out till after easter I may have to just go ahead and order a case cause I don't want to wait LOL
I've used diferent brands of plastic flamingoes to slowly build up my committee of Vulture-mingoes. Dollar General usually carries pink flamingoes each year as well. I cut the necks off and reinsert it deeper into the body to get more of a vulture look. I haven't made any from the Dollar Tree ones yet but I want to because they have a shorter neck, and can be painted as is. I look forward to adding a few more vultures this year.
Oh and an update... my DT Ugly Mummy- Mingo got adopted and has a new mummy. hahaha Get it? A new mommy? Bah dum tish. (Sorry. LOL)
Haha, Hilda. Was that a Ms. Claus? I still love the little mummymingo. I didn't know you had such a large flock of vultures. They are so cute. The two I made were from Target, and I honestly didn't even think about the length of their necks, LOL.
Thanks! Yes. She was a Mrs. Claus. Poor Mrs. C. Whenever I find another one and bring it home... I can just feel her terror. She wonders what will happen to her. LOLOL
I guess I've been adding the Vulture-mingoes two at a time. I have a few more Union flamingoes here to repurpose, but I want to grab a couple more DT ones to do too. You know, after the fact, cutting off the necks was completely unnecessary. Just added work. LOL There is no disguising what these started life as.... just go with it. That's what makes them so funny.
Love the Mummy-mingo, Hilda.
We did 3 vultur-mingos last year but I did cut the necks. Used spiderweb for the neck poof (they were last minute and it was handy.) Want to upgrade that this year.
Oh MC HauntDreams... I LOVE your vulturemingo! The deep red on the head is gorgeous. I was having trouble getting the red right. Now I want to go over mine again. LOL The neck is perfect and the spiderweb 'poof' is great! I like the presentation on the branch too!
After all that... I feel like I should be holding up a score card with a big 10 on it! hahahaha
Thanks all. Hilda, my red is Toro paint over a black base coat. Did black first bc reds can be thin.
(Toro paint was from our friends/family unwanted paint donations- over 6 sqft of spray paint and 20+ gallons now! M nicknamed our garage Sherwin Williams for Halloween.)
Ahhhh a black base coat.... That may be my answer. I painted some with the red right over the pink and they are too bright. I used grey primer for the next few and they are better.... but I am liking your result. I will use black first for the next few.
Thanks for the tip!
