Hey guys. I've been working on these for quite a while....like 2 years. Anywho, they're starting to look like how I pictured them. They went out last Halloween but they didn't have any aging. Now they're (mostly) aged/how I want them. What do y'all think?
I didn't put these in the "Prop Building" section, because I didn't figure they really belonged there.

What did you use to age them?

Well I painted them in drylock. Then I used black acrylic paint and slapped it on here and there. Then I used water (before the black paint dried) and kinda 'washed' it down to make it look like water had been dripping on it for a long time. Then after everything has dried, I used some eggshellish type paint and gently dry brushed it across the raised parts. Around edges and corners and on all the raised detail. Thats pretty much it. I was thinking of adding a touch here and there of a rust color and maybe some moss color. But I'm nervous about it

These look great...How tall did they end up being? I wanted to grab some but was afraid they would just be to small, but I love your idea of adding size to the bottom

Nice work! They turned out great!
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before

OMG these look great!! What a fantastic idea for someone like myself, who doesn't have the time or talent to make their own tombstones. Did you hot glue styrofoam to the bottom and then painted? I think the moss would add a nice touch. And mind if I ask - uhm...what is "drylock"?

Well, I added anywhere from 3-5" to the bottom, and the stones were about a foot tall when I bought them. And drylock is a masonry paint that you can get at pretty much any home improvement store. If I can remember correctly it's latex paint that has a fine ground sand mixed into it. It can be tinted, but I liked the light grey color that mine was. I've also been working on doing this same thing to some larger stones that I got at my local walmart and kroger. These stones will be about 3' tall or maybe a little more
also I didn't glue them with hot glue. I actually was using a spray glue, but it kept eating my foam. So then I bought some locktight caulk type glue. It's way think and kinda hard to spread out, but it holds pretty well. Then I sand down the sides and fill in the cracks with wood filler. Sand that down after it's dry and then do 2 light coats of drylock.
