I decided to make my Witch a new head, the Witches head I made a few years back sucked..lol the nose ended up looking rather phallic. I've never done sculpting before so I'm not great at it and don't really know the the correct techniques. I haven't quite finished painting her fully yet.

I'm a big fan of Lauriebeasts sculptures and after seeing her wonderful creations they inspired me to make her

From the photo I'd say you did a great job. I like how you included the neck and some shoulder. That's going to go a long way in making the finished witch look real.

The eyes are very intense and the mouth looks great. I'd love to see a pic from the side, so I can see the jaw line and the ears.

What did you use to make her face? Is this a special kind of clay? Mache? Cereal treats?

I used some paperclay I got off ebay, it was quite firm though and hard to use. I'm going to try making some myself, I've seen a few recipes online maybe I can make something a little softer.

I just went through and reviewed Lauriebeast's album. She uses a lot of celluclay for her pieces. It dries without firing, but doesn't shrink and crack like the cheap "air dry" clay (which I made the mistake of using on my first witch).

Thanks, I'll look into the celluclay stuff. The stuff I bought has cracked a little, probably due to it being cheap. Lauries stuff is amazing, she's very talented.

Just got off the phone with my local Michael's store and they carry Celluclay in both the 1 lb and 5 lb sizes.

The 1 lb is $6.99 and the 5 lb is $24.99.

    i think it looks great!

i can tell you, if I tried to make something from clay, it would look like some sort of play dough creation gone wrong (and not wrong in a good way!) LOLOL
