I do have some that are bunched together and some that are singlets. I tell you bethene, ever since you posted your pods and thorns I've been DYING to go on a nature walk. I should be walking (fingers crossed) in a month, but we'll be in the dead of the summer heat here in Texas. UGH! I'd LOVE to find some thorn things and pods like yours.
hallorenescene, I also found out that this plant is used to color products we consume like cheeses, etc. I honestly thought these pods were fake as I couldn't imagine they'd be so "perfect" in their odd shape and be a living thing! They are very sturdy as well."I myself am strange and unusual." -Lydia Deitz, Beetlejuice

OOO!!!! WANT!!!! I totally want some of those thorns! And those little pods with mouths are AWESOME!!! (calms down) Ok, in all seriousness, I want some of those. :P I've seen the things that look like purple/reddish brown "beans", but not the other things. I might need to go on a search in my yard for various things.
I've got some ideas for "non" nature ingredient bottles. For example, frog spawn...I was originally thinking tapioca pearls. But then I got to thinking, I kinda want to keep as many of my bottles ready to just put out. And with the tapioca, I'd have to clean it out after each Halloween. So instead of tapioca pearls, what about those water beads that are used in vases instead of water? They start out really really small, and when you add water to them, they swell up. I was thinking green ones but if I got clear ones I could put food coloring in the water to make the water greenish, and then use regular water in another jar/bottle and make something like "Virgin's Tears"
What do y'all think?

Those water pearls turn invisible if they're actually covered in water. The colored ones turn "out of focus". I'd suggest finding some plastic spheres, beads would probably look too obvious due to the holes but there might be something in floral or sewing sections that are solid (or you could make something out of polymer clay) then embed them in casting resin (you can tint this if you wish). Or you might even be able to use dry tapioca.

Hmm...that might be ok. Frogspawn would be kinda clear-ish see through anyway. I wonder if tinting the water as they're inflating, so to speak, if they would take on a slight tinge?

I used the small packages of scents, can't think off the top of my heaad what they are called, but they come in a little jar type thing, you take atop off to use the scent and they dry uup slowly releasing the scents, well, added them to another jar, they had several clors, I got green, but added a bit more green food coloring(they are slimy already, so just kept them as is) I call them eye of newt, but frog spawn is a great idea. I will try to find a pic of one,,

Wow, those look really good! What were the beetle eyes made from? Small black beads? Do those scent things shrink up? Or do they stay all nice and poofy?
