Well, I'm working on my sons Sam costume from trick r treat, and the only orange fleece I could find was a BRIGHT hunters orange. I was wondering if I put it in tea to stain it, would it still be orange, but a darker orange, as that's what I want. I want it to be a rusty pumpkin orange instead of so incredibly bright it hurts my eyes to look at it. lol. any tips on how to make it darker without actually making it brown? Thanks in advance

Not sure how the outcome will be as I have little experience. However, would it be possible for you to get a hold of a small, separate piece of the fleece you are trying to darken up? If so, you could do a test run with the small piece staining it in the tea to test the outcome.

Hopefully others with more experience will chime in. Good luck!

Tea or coffee should stain it nicely. I have done that trick on white dress shirts when I needed them old looking. Use really hot water, let soak for till teh water cools down, rinse, dry and see if it needs it again. Repeat until you get the color you want. Being that it is so bright, you might have better luck using coffee.
