This year I bought a wedding dress and want to go as a bloody bride, complete with machete and severed head. What paint/stain, color and brand do you recommend? I seem to have a hard time finding that just right color, it's either too red or too brown.

Personal opinion for all makeup effects i like to go with Ben Nye,kryolan is also pretty good.bennye.com/ Also depending on what type of blood you're wanting, a trick i like to use for "thick blood" or congealed blood is to melt down some gelatine and put cheap acrylic red paint in and mix up,let it set then go at it with a fork to break it up so you end up with thick and clumpy "jelly" then just use a spatula or palette knife and scrape it on.The thicker blood i like to use on costumes as i find it makes more of an impact.Good luck and let me know how you get on.
PS Don't buy bright red, you want a fairly dark one, almost a wine/burgundy type colour

Thanks for the info. Love the gelatin idea!

I know I'm late on this but maybe this can help someone next year going through these postings. My stepson used a can of spray blood on his costume of Michael Myers. He purchased it from a Halloween store. It looked so real and was easy to control the flow.
