OK, so I'm kind of getting a late start on my costume this year, but I have succeeded in narrowing it down to two options: either a blind fortune teller (basically a classic gypsy style fortune teller with white out contacts) or Jackline the Ripper (long black skirt, white blouse, cape, top hat, knife). What do you guys think? And any ideas on either are, obviously, welcome! Thanks in advance.

I like the idea of the blind fortune teller, it sounds creepy and you have more options to get creative with it. I keep picturing a dusty, haggard old woman with spiders in her hair, a ragged dress, lots of tinkling charm necklaces and bracelets, and a big black crow on her shoulder.

Jackline the Ripper is very creative and original

At one point the media was covering a story, about the fact it may have been a woman who committed the murders..Jill The Ripper

Alright, I think I'm leaning towards Jackline the Ripper. The least expensive contacts I could find are $60/pair, and that's more than I usually pay for my whole costume. Knowing that I'll only wear them once or twice isn't really justification to spend that. On my budget, I think the Ripper is a wiser choice, and I can still creep it up, and reuse the pieces for future costumes!

The good thing about the ripper one is, the Victorian element is very easy to obtain. Thanks to the Goths (my brother has loads of Victoria Goth stuff) plus you can easy make it into a Vampire, or a female version of Mr Hyde for another year.

Jackline (or Jill?) the Ripper it is. And I think I've got most of it worked out. Long black skirt (if it's not quite long enough I think it'll be OK with black boots and tights), cape (something black velevet-esqe with black, dark purple, or dark red lining), top hat (trimmed in cape lining colour), knife, bloody victim (aka my boyfriend, hopefully!). However, I have nooo idea what to do on the top. I was thinking something bustier/corset-y? Again, my budget is on life support!

Not only are the white out contacts pricey but unlike the black outs your vision is impared and you can not see too good with them in.
