Really depends on your staff size, if you will have dozens of actors then sometimes good masks can save you time in getting people ready to go since doing great makeup can be time consuming.

We use both. Make\up is certainly more comfortable and allows for personal creativity, but there are some killer masks out there with great detail and expression. Many of my helpers wear masks to fit in with their scenes. I wore make-up last year for the first time and it was really nice not to be sweating my butt off while working the haunt for two and a half hours.

Masks work nicely. When there is no time to get ready, you slip it on. Makeup has clean up afterwards. I will be using some latex appliances this year for the first time. So that should be interesting.

There are so many greatly detailed masks out there....but it's very hard to find one that you can easily breath in and see out clearly. The thing I hate is getting a mask that you can not see out of much at all. It's just not a good idea to try that on Halloween. Makeup can look awesome when it's done by "good" artists!

So as long as you can breath and see easily, I would say a mask! But of course, nothing covers your face with makeup on...

I have always been a devoted makeup user... but I've been looking at some of the silicone masks out there and WOW! I might have to try some out.

I like makeup. Allows for more creativity, easier to breathe. Cleanup is a pain in the you know what, especially late at night, making a mess of the bathroom sink.

Ive used masks mostly... However, I would love to get into the makeup area. I guess fear of spending lots of money and not being sure which are good products have really been the only thing keeping me from crossing over. Any good suggestions on where to get the good makeup?
