"Old Lady" Costume? –

Hey guys!
For 2010, we're doing a New Orleans/Voodoo theme; my husband's probably going as a vampire. I don't really want to do a costume that goes with the theme, though.
Let me tell you a story:
I went to a party a few years back. It was a mix of friends who all knew each other and a bunch of other people that were friends of friends, etc. There were some great costumes; however, one stuck out. It was some guy (still don't know who it was) dressed as an old man. Seems safe, but man, he creeped us all out. Full on mask, full on clothes, full on bent-over-using-a-cane posture; even his hands looked old. And, he never, never spoke a word throughout the entire party. He would follow people around and stare at them, or do a little old man dance to the music. Or just sit there. The combination of not knowing who it was and him not speaking and him just following people around made it one of the best costumes ever. Not that old people are scary - it just seemed like this one had a hidden agenda. :Shudder:
So, I'm thinking, old lady for Halloween. Trouble is, I won't have the anonymity, as the party will be held at my place. But, I could still be creepy, stare at people, not talk, etc.
Is going as an old person kind of a faux pas? Or is it okay and do you think it's creepy enough? I tried creepy last year (killer porcelain doll with axe), but people just told me I looked pretty or like Lizzie Borden. I want to go easy on the makeup/hair this year and just throw on a mask.
I've added images of the masks I'm considering. What does everyone think?
I've put more thought into my Halloween costume than my career.
