HI there, this is the first time I've posted so I hope you can help a newbie.
My grandaughters are going to a party as zombie schoolgirls and I want to try making some fake wounds/peeling skin effects. I have looked on ebay and I can either buy 500ml of liquid latex body paint @£4.95 or 30ml liquid latex flesh @ £2.49. I would rather buy the larger bottle as we have not done this before and will probably need lots of practice but I don't know the difference between the two and which would be more effective/easier to use. I would appreciate any advice from more experienced members.
    Thanks

I get latex on myself all the time to the point I had to shave my for-arms because pulling it off was too painful. LOL But with all the types I've used both from two eBay vendors and from hobby lobby, it all appears to be the same just some thicker than others.

Apart from the obvious latex allergies some have understand that ammonia is used to slow the drying time, and even then it still dries quickly. It's not a great amount and doesn't bother me at all... less than a smelling salt, and once cured the odor is gone so consider that around eyes and inhalation.

Hi there. Welcome to the boards.

I bought 2 bottles of the 500ml latex for that price so I assume it was from the same Ebay seller! I got the flesh coloured stuff, and from someone who also had never used liquid latex before this stuff is great. I’ve played around with creating some wounds on my arms and it is really easy; using toilet roll and drying with a hair dryer. Also, if what you are planning to get is the same as mine, it might be useful to note that you do get a brush/spongy type applicator included.

I'm unsure what the liquid latex flesh is, however, in venturing a guess I assume it's the sort of skin moulding type putty. I have also bought some of this because I've read that it's easier to make few smaller cuts/scars from as it just bonds to skin almost right away, where as with liquid latex there is drying time. I've not yet received it but I've watched a few YouTube videos on applying it and it looks like the easier option if you're wanting a few, realistic looking wounds.

I believe it’s been dropped off by my postie today, so if you like I can give it a try out when I get home and report back?

Hope this helps a bit and enjoy!

The putty I think your talking about isn't latex but a wax based stage make-up usually referred to as Derma Wax. I've used that before and it is pretty gooey but it sticks (and to your fingers so it can be frustrating to apply). It doesn't set like latex and can be reused.

Derma wax it is indeed. I knew it wasn't a latex, however I'm unable to think of anything else like the OP was refrencing? Any ideas?

It's cool that derma wax can be reused, I'm quite excited!

Thanks for your quick replies guys, I think I will go with the large bottle. The liquid flesh is from the same ebayer (item 330368926639) which is why I thought they might be different. I'll go and order now and let you know how we get on.

When I did a zombie I used unflavored Knox geletin. It has texture to it and gives that extra creepy look. You have to work with it relatively quick though. You can also color it in with makeup and pull down pieces of it to give it the peeling flesh look.
They live. They die. They return. Zombies.
