Thread: dreadlocking a wig?

I know you can buy dreadlock wigs, but I can't find exactly what I want...bright red, very long dreads. So I'd rather just buy a long, bright red wig and dreadlock it myself. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

I don't know anything about dreadlocks myself, but I have found a few ideas.

1. Buy a BLOND dreadlock wig and dye and/or color it with the goth hair painting stuff.

2. Do as you suggested, buy a red wig and do the backcombing mentioned here: How do you form dreadlocks?
