I'm planning on dressing up as Medusa. I have my costume and all the accessories. The problem is, I want to tie my boyfriend in with my costume somehow. My idea was to have him be one of the guys who turned to stone by looking at me. But I wasn't sure how to go about making him look like he was made of stone. Any ideas?![]()

How about having him be another god/goddess? if you both had togas as the base of your costume, you can be separate gods but still be tied together. Poseidon is who supposedly raped Medusa and made her evil, or the one with the winged shoes would be easy & effective (the name escapes me). Dyonisis (I'm sure that is spelled wrong) is the god of wine & orgies, men generally enjoy that one...
Or Perseus, who beheads her? I picture that as sort of a Greek/Roman soldier with a sword (though if he's quite brave or quite drunk, there's always this version: Image:Persus-with-the-head-of-med.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )
He could be one of the other Gorgon sisters (or both of them? two headed?)

There is a great tutorial on the RPF that could be adapted to a male statue.

Like Heather said above, the Perseus costume is a very good idea. If you decide on that make sure to top it off with a mirrored shield.

Oh this is great timing, I just posted this in another thread.....it's not a direct tie in to the Medusa story but you might like it.
"My wife and I are going as a Greek mythology couple I am going to be Pan (half man-half goat) and she is going to be Medusa.
The Medusa costume is fairly easy and open to interpretation (freaky gown, snakes in hair, eyes accented etc..)
The Pan costume is a going to be a little tough to make look right, not many people want to make furry pants, I am going for shape instead of hair (pads in pants to push thighs forward and calves back) for that goat backward leg look.
Then all you need is horns and a Pan flute (I also found a shearling vest at goodwill)
I will post pics when we get closer.....and no, I don't mind if anyone else uses the ideas unless you are planning on partying in the southeast Michigan burbs. "
