Scary Costume
Does your costume scare the TOTers?
This year mine did primarily because I did two things different. I wear an “apron of flesh” costume (has faces and body parts all over it...rather disgusting and gory looking). This year I wore a sound activated electric-looking light up pin at the top of the apron that drew a lot of attention to the apron itself. Also, I used fake tattoos of bloody scratches all over my face and used make up to create a split lip and bruises on my face.
Actually, I forgot what my face looked like because I couldn’t feel the make up on my face (as opposed to other years with prosthetic appliances on my face). I would go down the drive way to hand candy to the kids too scared to come into the garage haunt and they kept backing away from me. I’d get closer, holding the candy out to them and they’d back away further. I’m thinking, “What’s wrong with these kids? Don’t they want the candy??” One little girl backed right into one of the head-on-a-stake props that line the driveway. It fell over so I got closer to fix it and she backed up faster and it fell over again. Then, Mr. L came up to me, gave the little girl her candy and said to me, “You know, your face is scaring the kids. They’re afraid of you!”
Well, the light bulb finally went off in my dim brain and I quit trying to give candy to already scared kids. Mr. L took that over. But, all in all, I was overjoyed that I finally did a costume that was scary!!It’s my first scary costume success and I loved it!!
