I've got a costume I'd really like to make this year as I was unable to last year because I had difficulties finding the right materials or substitues for the things I wanted.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a reputible online source that sells any of these:
-Pleather (black) for a resonable price
-Faux fur with fur that is longer than 2" without a pattern on it (i.e. tiger stripes, spots, etc.) OR some kind of substitute...
-red silk cord/rayon tube cord
-Sterling silver/nickel/pewter oriental fan shaped pendent
...Yeah. I'm not entirely sure I put this in the right section either. And I was wondering if anyone knew of any good resources about making your own patterns.

Where were you looking for the materials?
With just some quick searching - I wasn able to find things. Are they reasonably priced? That's for you to decide.

Thank you. :3 I searched Google for a long time, as well as eBay and a couple of other places that tend to have the odd material-pendent-craft making supplies but I seem to have been trying the wrong keywords or something.
I already knew about Denver Fabrics, and I have been keeping them in mind. The other place I haven't heard of, so I thank you greatly for a link there. :3
I greatly appreciate your help.

No one can make you do anything you don't want to do, right?

I've seen bolts of faux fur at wal-mart before in dark brown, black, and white. They won't have it in yet, but they should soon... They'll get out the fur when they get out the velvet.
I'm crazy, you're crazy, we're all crazy. Let's shake on it.

Some other things I've found out aren't stocked at any local stores (or they say that they no longer carry):
-Historically accurate pattens (I know there's a company that makes these, but I can't remember what it's called)
-Or any references (books, articles, websites) that explain how to make your own pattern.
-Dark gray cotton cloth (it's odd...none of my local stores stock it and I've had difficulty finding any on the internet.)

Wow, I never thought this would come in handy, but here's a link to historically accurate patterns at Dixie Gun Works. The patterns are under the 'General Merchandise', then 'Clothing & Accessories' section. Although I'm not sure exactly what kind of pattern you're looking for, I hope the link helps.

Thank you for that link, it is immensely helpful.
I found a couple of things I was looking for, but there are still a couple I'm looking for. Specifically a pattern for a doublet, and a pattern for a shirt that I've only ever seen called a "poet's shirt".
I do greatly appreciate that link though, because it looks like I can find some other quite interesting things on there. ^_^
