I need help making some scary boots. Any suggestions? The goal is not to buy them at Hot Topic. I'm thinking about just taping some black garbage bags to my legs. Ideas are needed

First, take a good look at those boots next time you're in Hot Topic. Boot spats that cover your legs and shoes are pretty easy to make with vinyl material, about $3-5 a yard from a fabric store. You can get costume patterns that have spats in them or you can just cut your own. By measuring an existing pair of boots or just measure your legs and leave a little extra room. You don't even have to sew them. Velcro with sticky backs or laces can be used for the closures on the "boots". $5 vs. the price at Hot Topic should be a motivator!
