I changed up my costume idea about three times during the month, mostly due to the fact that the dress I ordered has a really odd cut to it. A style that I do not care for and was not complimentary. Then my eyes decided they really do hate contacts so that was another $60 down the drain.

The two best items I ended up with: a LegAvenue hooded cape, reversible black/red and the Scarecrow Natural Fangs.

I went as a Vampiress. In particular a huntress complete with a really nasty looking knife. For my top I wore a leather corset/bustier (very lightweight) that has buckles across the front, two of which held the knife in place but gave me enough room to actually draw the blade. I wore black mesh/jersey pants (VERY comfortable) and boots with a high, chunky heel (after 10 hours, not very comfortable at all).

Makeup wise I decided to layer my makeup. I used the ManicPanic Goth white for one foundation. Sealed it. Added my everyday foundation. Sealed it. Then I did lip and eye colour, white finishing powder and then sealed again. No, I did not look too heavily made up, each layer was thin. The reason I did this is that I volunteered to help out at the party and knew I would be sweating.

I did build up a sweat and ended up with a look that everyone said looked great. The seal and the natural foundation wore out in strips, giving me a very cool look as the white stayed in place. Even the guy I was there with commented that as the night went on I was looking more and more anemic. Unfortunately I did not win a prize (I knew one of the two judges and no, that was not a good thing) but had a few people come up and say they thought I had one of the best costumes. However, my bestest bud <G> did win second place and she did look really great.

One last piece I forgot. I wore my fishnet armwarmers which are loaded with safety pins. They really looked good with the rest of the costume. Having the corset and medium weight cloak was nice inside and I stayed warm enough when I went outdoors for a couple of breaks.

The corset--Ebay for $30
Scarecrow Natural Fangs, Scarecrow bite marks (which I forgot), ManicPanic white makeup, Gothic contacts, Leg Avenue cloak, blood vial--Vampfangs.com for $140
Thin silver chain for the vial--Michaels $4

Knee High Leather Boots--already owned but Wal-Mart, $11
Knife--my friend loaned it and another to me so free
Sealer--local magic/theatrical shop, huge bottle from last year $30 (and PLENTY still left over

People loved the fangs. I drank plenty of cola which gave me teeth a yellowish tint and matched the fangs perfectly.

Now I better start getting ready for next year, which right now I want it to be that Valkyrie costume I had talked about earlier in the year.
