Have always wanted to build one of these.
Here is my version...
It should come in at about 9.5 feet tall
Was going to do a Frankenstein head but it was to heavy (next year I may work on getting it lighter)
Here is how I am attaching the oversize foam skull - wood dowel and then spray foam
Test setup for head movement - side to side and up and down
Helmet layout and config
Framework config before gluing it all
Me attempting to sew
I know nothing other than a $29.99 sewing machine is really not much better than doing it by hand!!
Final base layer robe/cloak
Adding foam
Everything is designed to come apart in to pieces for storage - Head, arms (you can see clips used to attach arms), backpack and added frame - as you can see by my work area - things are tight as I have to much stuff
)
Final foam frame - note how hands are for Frankenstein!!
I think it will still look ok with the skull
Note: I have actually removed the large chest foam - it was to thick
Skull - I custom painted the horns (they were black and red) and then mounted them to the skull
I also wired in the red glow eyes (battery pack is mounted in upper mouth)
You can see the Frankenstein head in the background (can you tell I really wanted to be Frankenstein
)
Full Shot before adding the robe - it was very important to me to have everything scaled correctly and all body parts proportional - I have seen some costumes and I did not like the look (just me) as the arms were to long, the head to small or the hands were to tiny etc - I think this has scaled out well based on the calculations I did before starting the build.
More to come - have to add the base robe and then trim it out with lots of creepy cloth etc etc
